It’s November, and that means it’s Prematurity Awareness Month! November is when we focus the nation’s attention on the impact premature birth has on babies and families, and on the opportunities for prevention.

My own nephew was a 6 weeks premie and many of the children I have taught in my Kindermusik classes have also been premies. I feel very strongly about this issue.

Here are just a few things you can do this month to help spread awareness of the effects of premature birth!

In giving to the March of Dimes, you help us to continue our vital research, education, community services, and advocacy programs. The Save Premature Babies cause has set a goal of raising $5,430 – just one cent for each baby born prematurely in the US each year. Please help us to reach this goal by clicking the “Donate” button on the cause or by going directly to Thanks for your support for helping us to reach this goal!

In the US today, more newborns die from premature birth than any other cause. It’s time for our country to do more help moms have healthy, full-term babies. Sign the Petition for Preemies today to help urge Congress and our new president to make progress for preemies! We have a goal of receiving 543,000 signatures- one for every baby born prematurely in the US each year. Sign the petition now at

Download Billboard top ten recording artist Bettina’s new song “Cradle to the Grave” for 99 cents during the month of November and one dollar will be donated to the March of Dimes! “Cradle to the Grave” is a song about family and was written in honor of Bettina’s goddaughter who was born premature. You can download the song now at or on iTunes.

We want to hear what you’re doing this November! After you complete one or all of these simple tasks to help save babies, head on over to the cause and click on “Prematurity Awareness Month” in the Discussion Board and tell us what you’ve done!

Thanks for being a champion for babies!
