Please check out the following link to see an article at wondertime.com regarding a Musician Mom’s experience with her 2 1/2 year old and two music classes. Here is an excerpt:

“How does a musician mom get her toddler in tune with the joy of making music? She puts down her fiddle, grabs a plastic drum, and joins him in a beginners’ class.

My 2 1/2-year-old son, Quinn, is the victim of an uncommon affliction: two parents who make music for a living. The poor kid has averaged one U.S. state for every month of his life and has endured countless rehearsals, shows, and babysitters. He likes to set up Dad’s drum set, which is charming. My husband and I have been making music with him since the day he was born. Did we hope he’d learn to love it? Of course. Has he? That depends entirely on the packaging. …” http://wondertime.go.com/parent-to-parent/article/music-class.html

Here is a link to my personal fundraising webpage for Relay for Life. You may donate here and send me an email if it is for sponsorship of luminaries.  http://www.acsevents.org/johnstoncounty/juliekstewart

My Johnston County Relay for Life team is asking for sponsors. All sponsors are recognized with their names on the T-shirt that is a part of the Relay for Life Experience for the year that they sponsor. The T-shirt is a wonderful advertisement as every participant gets one and additional shirts are sold. To be a sponsor you contact a Relay for Life participant (me) and fill out the sponsorship form and pay your amount. You may chose between the following sponsorships…Bronze – $300 or more; Silver – $600 or more; Gold – $1,000 or more, Platinum – $1,500 or more; Platinum Plus – $2,500 or more.  Premier$5,000   Sponsors are at top back of shirt.  Sleeves are $7,500.   The larger the sponsorship, the larger the print!

You may also chose to buy luminaries in honor or in memory of someone who has had or has cancer. They are $10.00 each and will circle the Relay for Life path surrounding the lake at JCC.

The Johnston County Unit of the American Cancer Society will hold its 24-hour “Relay for Life” fund raising event beginning at 2 PM on Friday, June 1st and continuing through 2 PM Saturday, June 2nd 2007 on the back campus of Johnston Community College.  The first and last laps of the event are dedicated to cancer survivors who are honored in a special opening ceremony at the stage area at 6 PM on Friday night.  Luminaries may be purchased in honor or memory of loved ones and will be lit Friday evening at dusk in a special luminaria service you will not want to miss!  Entertainment will be ongoing throughout the event at the stage area so bring your lawn chairs!  Bring your tent & sleeping bag and stay all night if you’d like!  The closing lap and ceremony will begin at 1:00 PM Saturday and is also dedicated to survivors. It’s a community event to help find a cure for cancer and we do need your support!!  Each lap walked is a “Lap of Love” in honor or memory of someone.

Our county goal this year is $525,000! If you would like to support Relay for Life contact me by commenting  on this post and I will get back to you with what to do!  Sincerely, Julie Stewart

Hi friends and family,

When I first heard this version of one of my favorite songs I had no clue who sang it. Now I do and it is a wonderful video tribute to a talent that has passed on. Watch the whole video and you will understand. Such a simple beautiful tribute to a person of much talent. The instrument he is playing is a ukelele.

Thank you Lori Kilmer for posting this!
