Following are the descriptions for next semesters classes.

Newborn through 17 months

Hickory, Dickory, Tickle and Bounce

Research shows the more you expose your baby to nursery rhymes and
songs, the stronger those emerging language-learning skills will be.
That’s why these Mother Goose-like stories and rhymes are the main
theme of this 8-week Kindermusik session. With a home CD of
recordings from class and weekly developmental information in your
home journal, you’ll develop research-proven communication strategies
with your child through listening activities, speaking “parentese,”
and sign language.

The Rhythm of My Day

This session will help you bring more rhythm and routine to
your baby’s day, as well as help her develop lasting learning skills.
We’ll show you how and tell you why music can help your little one
soothe herself and helps to build a strong network for learning in
her body and mind. With weekly developmental information in your home
materials and a CD of music from class, you can bring home those same
stress-free play and relaxation techniques from class, and
incorporate them into your daily routines.

18 months through 3 years Fiddle-dee-dee

We’ll meet many animal characters this semester in our books,
activities, and songs—each specifically chosen for a toddler’s
emerging interests and physical skills. With silly, bumpy lap bounces
we’ll help your child develop rhythm while further developing his
ever-emerging language skills. With a special stringed-emphasis in
the music from class, you can bring home the violin, cello, and
orchestra sounds to help your toddler stay a happy and engaged
learner at home, too.

3.5 years through 5 years Cities! Busy Places ~ Friendly Faces

In this unit, sidewalks, elevators, skyscrapers, and world-travelling
photographers are the theme in this unique preschool Kindermusik
program. Learning through the pretend play that your preschooler
adores, we’ll be rhythmically busy playing storytelling games and
handcrafting city “buildings” from wax paper at home so we can make a
cityscape in class! Plus every activity has some at-home adaptations
so you can take part in the learning. With a pair of resonator bars
as a featured instrument, and a multi-cultural, jazzy collection of
music, your preschooler will develop the social and intellectual
skills he’ll need in school.

6 months through 3 years Sign & Sing Session A

Playtime and everyday items around the house—such as a ball, bubbles,
and family members—are learning themes in this introduction to
American Sign Language for a child and caregiver. Experienced signers
will benefit from the session’s four, research-proven strategies
shown to speed language development in hearing children, developed by
the child development and sign language experts Signing Smart™. With
the DVD’s visual dictionary showing parents and children making over
60 signs, plus a pocket-sized set of flashcards of the pictures and
the words of the signs, you’ll easily incorporate sign language into
your daily routines, favorite nursery rhymes, and stories.

Newborn though 7 years Family Time Our Kind of Day

In this family-sized version of Kindermusik, the music and activities
involve the five things that happen around your house: playtime,
mealtime, clean-up time, bath time, and nighttime. Your At Home
Materials include a hand and finger puppets of the Kangaroo and Joey
characters featured in the two literature books. Plus, two home CDs
of music from class, a home activity guide, and two double egg shaker
instruments. Each item has been carefully created to bring out the
music—and the learning—in your family. Specially designed to fit the
varying ages and learning abilities of your children, this set will
help you bring the learning and the music-making home, as well as
become a lasting, well-loved favorite of the toy box and book shelf.

Young Child Semester 2

Playing simple musical patterns and songs on the featured instrument
from the first session—the glockenspiel—is a central focus this
semester. While learning to sing a melody, and then play the pattern
on the glockenspiel, we’ll delve deeper into the understanding of
musical concepts such as piano and forte through orchestra-style
music such as William Tell Overture, and Peter and the Wolf. Music
appreciation and understanding continues with a complete introduction
to the instruments—and the families in which they’re grouped—of the
orchestra.

Young Child Semester 4

In this final semester we’ll introduce the recorder instrument. As
your child is introduced to basic methods of playing simple melodic
patterns and songs on this wind instrument, we’ll also incorporate
the instruments, concepts, and songs from previous semesters. With a
special emphasis on multi-cultural music, your child will learn to
improvise and write music, as well as experience the musical styles
of the Pacific Islands, Europe, Bach, and Africa; plus play special
dances and children’s games from around the world, including Alpine
dances, Mexico, and Ecuador.
